After reading about the trend of TASKSUMERS (consumers who make money from carrying out small tasks, for other individuals or companies), I thought to myself  what is a Tasksumer?  What is the difference in value between a Virtual Assistant and a Tasksumer?

A Tasksumer is great for a college student looking to earn extra cash while in major cities, and available for one-time projects.  A Virtual Assistant is a professional you build a long term relationship with, who understands your business, and is a trusted business partner that can be counted on to provide the support you need, as needed, with no overhead cost.

In business, each day there are multiple small tasks to accomplish during our day-to-day operations.  Some are urgent and get taken care of immediately, while others seem to move from today’s “to do list” to tomorrow’s. They are more like “things I would really like to accomplish, and I never seem to have the time to do.”  Eventually it leaves you with a sense of vague dissatisfaction.

Holiday Romance Comes to Mind

Recently, I found myself thinking about the upcoming holidays and reminiscing some of the past year’s events. One of my memories from last year was a Zale’s commercial that used a jingle to perfectly sum up all of the romantic and loving feelings we are so full of during the holidays.

The song, with a melody and lyrics written for hopeless romantics, is matched by Zales taglines pointing out how their gifts make an unforgettable evening for the one you love. All of the warmth and coziness are matched by the crisp winter weather. Can they match this in 2013?

When we first heard this commercial on TV last Christmas, my husband wanted to know who wrote the jingle. He looked online, discovering it was called “If It Wasn’t For You” and written by Various Cruelties. Various Cruelties played at the Coachella Fest a few years ago, but they received much more attention when their song was featured in this commercial. Their self-titled album entered the Top 100 on the U.S. ITunes chart.

Perhaps you didn’t like how catchy the jingle became. Some people were groaning on YouTube about how sick, they were having the song stuck in their heads for hours. And, yet, how perfect is that, really? A song so catchy it immediately sums up memories of the commercial and permanently implants “Zales” in your mind. Even if you hear this song while walking through a store or listening to the radio, the first thing you will think of when the chorus plays is the unforgettable Zales jewelry store.

Vacation time in August? Tips on how to plan vacation time.

Vacation PlanningWhen is a good time to cast your lines and go? Tips on planning a vacation.

Planning a vacation can be stressful, and yet we dismiss the importance of time away from work. Taking a vacation to enjoy time with family and friends is helping your business.  Rejuvenate yourself with new energy for your business!

1. Leave when you’ll be missed the least.

Most businesses involve some kind of seasonality. Maybe your major clients or customers take off in August. Maybe you foresee downtime between major software releases. Identify a week or two when your services won’t be in high demand — that’s a great starting point for planning your vacation.

2. Start with smaller breaks.

If getting away for an extended period of time doesn’t seem realistic right now, start slow with smaller chunks of time — a few long weekends, for example, and ideally, you’ll discover that everything won’t fall apart the moment you disentangle yourself from the office.  Bizy Biz Virtual Assistant is only a phone call away. 3. Make sure there’s enough prep time.

First commercial JINGLES

The very first commercial JINGLE to air on the radio was on Christmas Eve in 1926 in Minneapolis-St.Paul.
It featured four male singers….the Jingle lyric went like this….

Have you tried Wheaties?
They’re whole wheat with all of the bran.
Won’t you try Wheaties?
For wheat is the best food of man.
They’re crispy and crunchy
The whole year through,
The kiddies never tire of them
and neither will you.
So just try Wheaties,
The best breakfast food in the land.

General Mills had seriously planned to end production of Wheaties in 1929 on the basis of poor sales. Soon after the song “Have you tried Wheaties?” was aired only in Minnesota, 53,000 cases of Wheaties breakfast cereal sold, 30,000 was sold in the Twin Cities market! Instead of dropping the cereal, it was decided to go nationwide with the Jingle commercial. The resultant climb in sales single-handedly established the “Wheaties” brand nationwide.
