Using How-To Guides to Attract Audience and Strengthen Your Brand

How many times a day do you search for “How-To,” “Where is,” or “When is” to find the info you need?

Are you a Google Nerd or a moderate-to-avid Google Search user? I know I am!

In this article, I’m going to talk about how to position yourself online, so that when your potential clients search for information it is to your advantage.

How? By creating How-To guides that provide them with the answers they are searching for.

Google How-to guides

Let me start with a personal story that shows an example of how your “how-to” guide can attract your desired audiences:

Recently, I drove a friend who had fallen and needed medical assistance to an Urgent Care center. The Doctor informed us that my friend had fractured his 8th and 9th ribs, and got a hematoma on the 10th rib.

Now, I am not claiming to have a Google Degree in medicine, but I did find some very helpful guides for my friend on “How to Take Care of a Fractured Rib.” Whoever published that info is getting lots of hits both from people who have fractured a rib, and their loved ones.

When I needed help finding information on how to help heal fractures, I found the resources I was searching for because they position themselves as an expert.

Every time you share your expertise online, your audience will consider you an authority on the subject. They will want to get to know you, read your guides and will consider you a caring expert.

AND they will recommend you to associates, friends and family.

That’s just one example of why publishing a How-to Guide, Checklist or Infographic is an excellent way to attract your desired audience to your website AND position yourself as an authority on topics related to your services or expertise.

Is it really worth the effort?

How-To guides require a little more effort, resources and time to produce than your social posts, YES! It is absolutely worth it.

Here are THREE reasons why.

1). It will help readers solve a problem or achieve the result they are looking for. This in turn makes them feel relieved and happy, and they relate that relief to YOU and YOUR GUIDE. You have taken the first step in making them love you!

2). It will put you out there, demonstrating your authority and strengthening your brand identity.

3). It shows you truly want to help them by creating valuable content for your audience, which in turn means you actually care about them. People are more likely to do business with someone whom they believe genuinely cares about them.

A How-To Guide generates great leads for your signature program, building up your email list by encouraging people to sign up.
